Financial Controller 💼


  • 🌏 Location: Remote (APAC time zones preferred)
  • 🕒 Employment Type: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Fixed-Term, or Hourly Contract (Pro-rata)
  • 💰 Compensation: AUD 3,500 – 4,500 per month (depending on experience and engagement model)
  • 📅 Start Date: Immediate / Negotiable


We are hiring a hands-on Financial Controller to take full ownership of the finance function across two growing businesses:

  • Roomstay – a fast-growing SaaS platform serving the hotel industry
  • Dijitally – a digital marketing agency delivering performance-driven services

Operating across Australia, the UK, and Ireland, both businesses run within a multi-entity, multi-currency environment, requiring strong financial structure, operational discipline, and commercial insight.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys owning finance operations end-to-end, improving systems and workflows, and providing clear financial visibility to leadership.

This is not a traditional finance role focused purely on month-end reporting. You will be responsible for bringing control, structure, visibility, and efficiency to the entire finance function.


🚀 What You’ll Be Responsible For


📊 End-to-End Finance Ownership

Take full ownership of finance operations across both businesses, including:

  • Managing invoicing across multiple entities
  • Bank and corporate card reconciliations
  • Accounts receivable and collections
  • Supplier payments and payment runs
  • Maintaining accurate financial records in Xero
  • Managing multi-currency transactions and FX platforms such as Airwallex or equivalent


💵 Payroll & Compliance

Ensure payroll and compliance processes run smoothly for an international team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing payroll operations
  • Ensuring compliance with:
    • BAS / GST / PAYG obligations
    • Payroll and statutory requirements
  • Coordinating with external accountants for filings and statutory reporting


📈 Monthly Reporting

Prepare structured management reporting packs with insights leadership can act on.

Reporting includes:

  • Revenue by entity and business segment
  • Gross margin analysis (especially agency delivery)
  • Operating costs and profitability
  • Cash position and movement


You’ll ensure reporting is:

💸 Cashflow & Forecasting

Build and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts to provide visibility on:

  • Expected inflows and outflows
  • Cash constraints and risks
  • Working capital requirements


🧠 Commercial Finance & Insight

Act as a trusted finance partner to the founder.

You’ll help:

  • Analyse client and project profitability
  • Track SaaS revenue performance
  • Identify margin leakage
  • Highlight cost inefficiencies
  • Provide proactive recommendations

We need someone who goes beyond reporting and helps drive better business decisions.


⚙️ Process & Control

Design and implement scalable finance processes across both businesses.

This includes:

  • Improving efficiency and reducing manual work
  • Creating structured workflows for billing and collections
  • Improving intercompany accounting processes
  • Introducing clear ownership and accountability across finance activities

A key objective is to reduce founder involvement in day-to-day finance operations by building reliable, system-led processes.


🎯 What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (CA / ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager, or similar senior finance role
  • Strong experience with Xero
  • Experience managing multi-entity and multi-currency finance operations
  • Strong Excel / Google Sheets capability
  • Hands-on mindset — comfortable executing as well as leading
  • Strong communication skills in a remote environment

Highly Desirable

  • Experience in agency/services businesses
  • Experience in SaaS or subscription-based revenue models
  • Experience managing offshore or outsourced finance support
  • Familiarity with Airwallex, Wise, or similar FX/payment platforms
